Our first calves were born late last night. They had kept us waiting because they were due more than a week ago, and Ali had worn the track out running up and down to where the cattle are to see if anything was stirring. Still the weather has been pretty foul so perhaps they knew they were better off inside.
These are the first calves born on Croick since we bought it more than ten years ago, so it is a memorable day. No human intervention was required, so let’s hope it stays that way.
