This July there has been an explosion of wild flowers all over the Estate, particularly in the areas where we have removed grazing pressure. Of course the lack of grazing helps but I think it is also a reminder that there is a silver lining in every cloud. We may have had shockingly awful spring and summer weather, but it seems to have suited the flowers well. Orchids, grasses, heathers all seem to have done well. We have also seen far more foxgloves than I ever previously remember.
When the sky is perpetually grey, it is nice to have some colour on the ground.
Just lovely to see all these wild flowers!
