In my blogs about this year’s calves, lambs and pigs, I forgot to mention the new chickens which have been laying their first eggs in the last few days. As you can see they are a rather smart combination of white and blue/grey. One of the white ones may be having an identity crisis as it appears to be trying to goose-step.

Talking of geese, the remarkable annual migration of geese from Europe to the Artic is underway at the moment. Every morning skeins of geese come overhead. The group below were very low and I can only assume that they had rested overnight by the Dornoch Firth and were only just taking off.
